My first wedding reception

Hi,

Last night, I joined a wedding reception at church.

That was my first time so I was glad to join it.

I dressed up for it.

The reception was all handmade.

Gym was decorated with white cloth and hydrangea.

That was so beautiful.

There are many people.

Camila who is the bride wore cute white dress.

She was very cute.

She looked happy with her husband.

They had me long for marriage.

By the way, tomorrow is Canada day!

This morning, I went to church for Canada day breakfast.

We ate pancake and ham in outside.

It was my first time, of course. I enjoyed it.

Tomorrow, I will go to some festivals at downtown.

I'm so excited!

I spent time with...

Hi,

Today I spent time with my host family.

In the morning, we went to church.

Ginamarie had to help making sandwitches for the reception of tonight.

During the time, I was playing the piano.

Playing the piano is one of my healing and I love it!

Recently I hardly play the piano so I feel a little sad.

But I could have fun at playing it today!

I bought the music book of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, so I practiced all songs!

That was very very fun and happy time!

Today I spent time not only with my host family but also with dragonflies!

They were on the front door and the garage.

So we had to go out from the back door when we left.

Boys were so scared and afraid about them. ( That was a little funny for me!)

I don't like insects but I like to see nice one like dragonflies.

At lunch time, we ate dumplings and rice balls.
They are my favorite Japanese food so I was so excited!

I made rice balls with Ginamarie.

She enjoyed it so I'm happy.

Tonight, I'm going to church for wedding reception.

It's the first time for me to join reception, so I'm so excited!

And also, Ginamarie's brothers are coming to our house tonight.

They will stay for a few days.

They are young so I'll try to be on good terms with them!

Hi,

Today was a very happy day for me!

From morning, I went shopping at West Edm. Mall with my friends.

I found very very sweet sandals at my favorite shop, skechers.

I need sandals for summer and those were so cheap so I bought!

And also, I got some cloth for camp.

I like them!

After I came back home, my host family got my package already.

I was very relieved and happy about that.

The contents are very wonderful so I'm super happy now!

But my room is untidy now! Sorry!

Now I'm gonna watch a movie "Ice Princess" with my host mother.

Tomorrow, I will go out with my host family.

I'm happy but I'm tired, too.

Hi,

Today I stayed at home on purpose.
This is because my package from Japan is coming today.
But, it didn't come finally.
I'm so sad and sorry about that...

I'm really excited about it.
Because my mother sent me some nice stuff what I love!
I can't wait anymore...
Where is my sweet package...?!

I waited that during the day so I didn't do anything special today.
Today was a little boring day.

Tomorrow, I will go shopping with my friends so I will be happy.

Fun YW activity

Hi,

Today I finished the actual final exam! Yeah!!
My English exam was pretty diffictult for me.
It took 2hours but I couldn't finish all of questions.
But I did my best so I don't regret it.
I'm happy I finished school!! I'm free!!

In the afternoon, I got tired so I had a nap.
I love nap(^^#)zzz

After supper, I went to church for activity of Young Women.
Today we went to a park and had fun.
We tied our feet with a person like three-legged race, and played soccer.
That was pretty hard but I enjoyed!
We also drunk juice and ate snacks at the park.
I like to spend time at the park in Canada, so I liked today's activity.

From tomorrow, my long summer vacation started!
I'm so excited at this sumeer.
Tomorrow, I will watch some movies at home.

The last week started.

Hi,

Today, the last week of June started.
I came to Edmonton from April so 3 months are going to pass.
I'm having fun here.
I have still 9 months until I go back to Japan,
so I want to try and study harder from July, too.
I have summer school so I will study harder than ever.

I have the actual final exam tommorow.
It's English exam so I feel nervous a little.
But summer vacation is coming soon so I'm excited!
I wanna go to many fun places and enjoy summer in Canada.

Normal Sunday

Hi,

I actually didn't anything special to write in my diary today, too...
But I wanna keep writing diary everyday even when I have nothing to write.

Today I went to church as always.
We join south wood sacrament on Sundays.
It starts at 11:00 a.m. and finishes at 2:00 p.m.
I also join Young Women classes.
I can't understand what people talking and learning about in English,
but it's important for me to just listen to others' talking.
And I have many friends at church so I like to go to church.
Someday, I wanna understand each classes in English.

I didn't do anything special today.
I just relaxed at home.

Dumping

Hi,

Today was a busy day.

That was because we planed cooking dumpling.

Ginamarie, my host mother, has been wanted to try cooking dumpling.

I've ever tried cooking it in Japan, so I taught her.

First of all, we went to T&T market in West Edm. Mall to get some asian foods.

In this market, we can buy asian (chinese, korean, Japanese and so on) stuff.

I could get some Japanese treets so I'm happy now!

After that, we went to another super market to get vegetables.

It took long time so I got tired after shopping.

After we had a break, we started cooking.

We made about 80 dumplings, so it took about 2 hours.

It was a little hard work, but we enjoyed!

Dumplings were very delicious!

Ginamarie also enjoyed so I'm glad.

This summer, I'm trying cooking!
Ginamarie wants me to learn a lot.

I'm working hard at learning it now.

I think my Japanese family and friends will be surprised at my cooking skill.

Preparing for SUMMER

Hi,

Today was a little busy day.
In the morning, I went to school to take Japanese exam.
It was the first time to take exam in the gym, so it was interesting.
We don't take exam in the gym in Japan.
I think my Japanese friends will be surprised at this.
The exam was very very easy because it's Japanese!
I finished it 30minutes after we started...so speedy, hey?
I hope I can get 100% mark.
After lunch, I went to Edmonton Public Library to get my card.
I can borrow not only books but also DVDs and CDs,
so I will use a lot from now on.
And also, I will study at the library when I wanna concentrate on study.
I went to Millwoods Recreation Centre to get my buspass and a member card.
I can use the buspass during the summer vacation.
I will go to summer school with it.

I prepared for summer today.
Summer is coming soon.
I have some nice plans and I'm so excited!

I am a camera girl!

Hello.

I didn't have school today, too, so I spent time with my host family.

In the afternoon, we went to Minchau Park which is the closest from our house.

My host brothers, Isaac, Merrill and Andy enjoyed playing there.

Especially, they enjoyed riding on a swing.

I pushed their swing for about an hour...!!

I got tired but I enjoyed, too!

They are so cute and healing for me.

Hanah and Andy said, ' Take my pictures, Mari!' So cute!!

So, I took many pictures of them today.

Hi.

Today I didn't have school so I relaxed at home.

I watched two movies on the couch.

Watching movies is my new hobby and healing!

I wanna wach many movies this summer.

I think it's the best way to learn English.

Because it's not borling and I can learn all of communication in English!

In the evening, I went to church for young women's activity.

We are going to camp in Calgary in July so we are planing it now.

Tonight, we learned about emergency treatment for camp, especially acitivities in outside.

For example, treatment for burn, for coughing, how to do artificial respiration, and so on.

I've learned them in junior high already but it was good for me to learn them in English.
I hope we don't have any accidents at our camp...!!

I'm so excited about YW camp!

I've never joined camp with friends so it should be wonderful.

My first exam

Hello.

Today I had final exam of English at school.

It was my first exam in Canda so I was very nervous.

I had to write two essays in the exam which are personal response to litearature and literature composition assignment.

The first one, I had to read two readings and see a picture, and answer the assignment.

The other one was about what I learned in classes.

The assignment was "who is the most impacted person to you."

I had to write about the person who was in the work which I learned in English class so far.

I wrote about Jack who is the hero of Titanic.

The suggested time was 2 and half hours.

I can't understand all of readings so I was confused.

The essays I wrote were short but I did my best...

I have to write essays a lot this year because I'm going to take English from September, too and I have TOEFL!

So I want to be used to them soon and I want to be good at writing essays.

My next exam is on Thursday but it is Japanese exam!

So I don't have to study! Lucky!!

I'm going to watch a movie tonight.

The Birthday Party

Hello.

Today I went to my host family's friend's house.

They held the birhday party of one of their friends.

The party was held at backyard.

We enjoyed nice dishes and talking.

I played with some kids so I'm super tired now...

However, at the end of the party, it was rainy and cold.

That was bad.

But we enjoyed the party!

I hope I can have my birthday party here.

I wanna invite my friends, eat nice dishes and talk a lot!

I'm really looking forward to my birthday in November.

Cooking

Hi.

Today was the last school day! Yeah!!

I have final exams for three days but school is almost over!

It's very earlier than school of Japan, so I'm very happy.

Classes were very easy today.

I watched a movie, went bowling...like spare time!
But I will miss some friends who are in grade 12.
I have very nice friend in pottery but she is graduating.

I wanna keep in touch with her, so I asked her e-mail address.

I hope I can meet her again before I go back to Japan.

By the way, my host mother Ginamarie loves cooking.

But I hardly cook so she sometimes teaches me how to cook.

Today, we make brownies.

That was my first time but I could.

She is gonna make a recipe book for me so I wanna try in Japan.

I attached pictures of brownies I made.

That was sweet and good!

Cleaning

Hi.

Today I had nothing to do after school so I cleaned my room and bathroom.

I'm busy and I tend to be tired so I clean my room just once a week.

I like cleaning because I can feel refreshed after cleaning.

I also did the laundry today.
It was a little hard for me at first because I didn't do my laundry by myself in Japan.
So I always feel the importance of my mother and gratitude for her.

Now, I like washing and cleaning by myself!

Today I attached pictures of my room, my bathroom, and our laundry space.

Tomorrow, all classes will be over.

It's really earlier than Japan.

I'm so excited at summer!

Bowling!

Hi.

Today, I played bowling in P.E. class.

I went to Gateball bowling by bus.

We don't play it in P.E. class in Japan.

And I haven't played bowling for a long time so I really enjoyed.

My score was 89!!

It was great for me!! Yeah!!(I'm not good at it...sorry!)

I wanna play a lot this summer.

Sad Tuesday

Hi,

Yesterday, I went to church after school.

We had a potluck party for our friend Stephanie.

She is the first friend for me here.

I had a lot of fun with her so far, for example, dance, watching movie, Sunday School, and so on.

She is always kind to me even when she can't understand my unperfect English.

So I really like her and I was so glad to be on good terms with her.

However, she moved to Seattle today.

I knew she was moving but I didn't know it was coming soon.

I knew it on Monday.

That was really shocking for me...actually, still now.

I didn't have enough time to prepare any gift for her, so I made a card finally.

At the party, we talked and laughed as always.

But, at the last, when Stephanie said " Bye.", I felt sad very much.

I thought "I can't meet her forever."

The next instant, I was going to cry.
But I didn't wanna show my tears to Stephanie, so I endured crying.

I gave her the card, took a picture with her, and hugged with her.

I didn't cry in front of her to the last, but I couldn't say to her "Thank you".

I tried to endure crying, so I couldn't talk.

Now, I really reglet it.

So far, she helped me a lot.

Thanks to her, I got used to church and talking with Canadian.
I really thank her but I couldn't tell her.

I wrote my feeling of thanks on the card but I had to say it personally.

After the party, in my room, I cried a lot. ( So I couldn't write my diary yesterday.)

That was because not only feeling of sad about her moving but also regret for myself.

I wanna be a friend of her forever.

So I will be a good English speaker and visit her someday!

My favorite Pottery

Hello.

Today, I'm gonna write about my favorite class pottery.

From April, I'm taking pottery.

In Japan, we don't have pottery class so I had ever tried it just few times.

I really enjoy working in this class.

Pottery is my favorite class so far.

I made a fantasy house, a plate, a perfume bottle, two cops, and some necklaces.

I had some trouble with making them, but my teacher and friends helped me so I could!

I really thank them.

From September, I won't take pottery so I will miss pottery...

I wanna try again someday!

Relax Sunday

Hi,

This weekend was really busy for me...
On Friday, I went to my Japanese friend Eri's house after school.
I ate asian food so I was very happy.
After that, I went to dance at church. I danced until 11:30 p.m.
I had a good time.

Yesterday, I went shopping at South Edmonton Common with my friends.
There are a lot of stores so I have to walk a lot.

Thanks to long sleep, I feel fine now.

This week, I will finish normal classes.

I bought some cute clothes for summer.

I bought this shorts for camp in this summer.

I'm really looking forward to camp.

Shopping is my best interest and healing.

I like to buy clothing, jewels, books, DVDs, CDs...whatever I like.

Especially, here, clothing are cheaper than that of Japan.

So I enjoy shopping here.

I'm looking for sandals and a swimwear now, but I could'nt find them today...

Also, I found very cute sneakers but they were $89,99!! How expensive it was!!

I have to save money so I gave up it...I'm sad...

Today was sunny but cold, hey?

I'm super tired today.
In P.E. class, I played 'bocce ball'(Is spelling right?).
It was my first time but it was fun.
This game is not known in Japan.
But I enjoyed it so I wanna tell my friends about this game.

I like P.E. class because I can try some games I've never tried in Japan.
For example, hockey, football, pool, and so on.
Next week, we will play bowling.
I like bowling, so I'm excited!

My name is Mari.

From today, I'm writing a diary in this blog.

First, I'm gonna introduce myself.

I'm from Japan and staying in Canada as an exchange student. I came here in April.

I'm working hard at studying English.
